The Grants and Compliance Manager will serve in the ‘Wezesha’ project, a three-year USAID funded Activity aimed at promoting disability inclusion in service delivery, enhance employment opportunities for Kenyans with disabilities and strengthen disability inclusion practices in public policy planning and implementation. The long-term objective of the Activity is to contribute to increased household incomes and resilience of Kenyans with disabilities.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Grants and Compliance Manager will ensure financial and programmatic compliance of the grant to contractual obligations, donor requirements, and UDPK policies. He/ She will coordinate all partner sub-agreements, develop and review grants, and maintain all files related to the grant.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure the grant or contract is well administered and that program teams are fully informed of relevant donor compliance regulations and organizations procedures to support on-track, on-time, and on-budget implementation.
- Provide technical support and mentoring to all implementing sub-partners on requirements and restrictions of US government funding in an effort to build the capacity of all implementing sub-partners to effectively manage their grants; interface with implementing partners to ensure understanding and compliance with all UDPK and USAID rules and regulations.
- Review all grant/procurement activities for compliance with UDPK policies and USAID regulations.
- Monitor grant activities during their implementation to ensure on-time and high-quality delivery of products and services; provide continuous assessments of UDPK and all implementing sub-partners’ performance against project objectives.
- Support implementing sub-partners on sub-grant management and assist in reviewing sub-grants agreements.
- Be involved in developing and embedding best practices to comply with donor financial rules.
- Supporting donor proposal budgeting, analysis of institutional income, donor contract expenditure tracking.
- Monitoring and providing management information on key risks.
- Contributing to the implementation of improved financial systems and processes at UDPK to facilitate better donor reporting and compliance.
- Coordinate regular grant monitoring, using appropriate grant management tools and through facilitation and support of regular and timely Grant Review, opening, and closing Meetings.
- Other duties, as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Studies, Auditing, Economics, or a related field or CPA (K), master’s degree is an added advantage.
- At least 5 years of experience managing and administering institutional donor contracts and/or grants with grant-making components.
- Experience working with US government (USG) supported projects and knowledge of financial rules and regulations, including fiscal controls and fund accounting procedures is an added advantage.
- Grants Management Training experience highly preferred.
- Possess analytical skills to identify and assess the credibility of organizations eligible for grants.
- Ability to conduct assessment and compliance checks and thereof capacity build partners on grants management and required reporting highly desirable.
- Experience in mentoring, coaching, skills transfer and working in team situations.
- Excellent representational and communication skills, written and oral proficiency in English.

- Attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness in executing assigned responsibilities
- Demonstrated commitment to respect, diversity, equity, and inclusion including gender equality.
- Understanding of the human rights-based approach to disability is highly desirable
